“Yes.” he confirmed, cocking his head to the side “As long as you don’t mind staying in that small room, of course. While a small space is fine for me, I wouldn’t want to force you to stay if you feel cramped” It was a concern that he’d begun thinking about. Daiyu had said that she wanted to get a place of her own when they’d first met. Shirong on the other hand was content with staying in the inn room however long he needed to… after all it was cheaper than having to pay rent and, well, as much as he didn’t want to think about it, now especially…. he wasn’t intending on being in Amestris permanently.

“Mm, well I’ve been completely fine with it, actually. I don’t think that would change just because of this.” It was truth though. Despite growing up in a large home with a room all to herself since birth, she didn’t mind small places. In fact whenever she got angry at her mother, she’d run and hide in a cramped closet; it was so comfortable that she had fell asleep and hours later, servants would be frantically looking for her during her little unintended nap.

“You also don’t have to worry about Lei-Fon. He’s grown comfortable with sleeping outside next to the Inn’s doors. He doesn’t budge until I leave and the only time he’d go into the room is to lay in the corner while you are out.”

“No, but you seemed interested in procuring a place of your own once you got more used to the city” He reminded her. “And speaking of Lei-Fon, even if what you say is true, I’m not so sure him always having to be left outside is an idea I like. What if it storms, for instance?” Granted, the Inn’s owners were fairly lax and probably would allow the dog inside in the event of bad weather, but still…

He shook his head and smiled faintly “Well, either way, I suppose this will be our arrangement for some time.” He held his hand out, a slight look of bashfulness on his face “Not this is anything new but, here’s to living together”

Shirong lingered there with eyes closed for a moment longer before pulling away, simultaneously taking her left hand into his right with a firm grip. “We’ll just be taking things as they come”.  If this was how things were going to be, he wanted to show her as much affection as he could during their time together, hopefully without becoming overbearing.

Slowly, he began walking forward “So Daiyu-san….” he inquired with a slight smile, genuinely curious about what she would say. ” I suppose then this means, then that we will continue to stay with each other while we are here, yes?”

That sounded like a good idea, considering she was brand new to all of this, and especially kissing or any type of tender affection. She wouldn’t voice being below a novice, she didn’t want him to feel like he had to hold back. Though Daiyu was sure she’d get used to it, hopefully sooner than never. Slender fingers curled around his in response to holding her hand, her feet beginning to move as well.

“If you mean, in.. your room, then well… i-if it’s alright with you.”

“Yes.” he confirmed, cocking his head to the side “As long as you don’t mind staying in that small room, of course. When she pulled away he instinctively pulled her closer still. Despite the rather simple gesture of affection, his heart too was racing, and his face was lightly flushed. He let out a breathy chuckle “I believe that was our first kiss, Daiyu-san”. Taking note of her embarassment, he gently pat the back of her head before cupping her cheek and bringing her face up from his shoulder, pressing his nose to hers.

“…and hopefully far from our last” he finished, his voice quieter and more tender than it had started.

Her fingers clung delicately to the cloth over his back, trying to force the blush to fade however failing once he commented. She struggled to hide her shyness by chewing lightly on the corner of her bottom lip, eyes flickering downward and back up to his face a few times. “….” She released a soft breath when their noses touched, and she swallowed the lump that quickly appeared. “Hopefully,” she agreed after one more moment of quietness, and she smiled weakly.

So inexperienced with this.

“I don’t… feel too good…”

“Mr. Lee, what’s wrong!?”

“I think I had too much junk food,” damn 4/20 and the munchies that came with it.

Shirong shook his head disapprovingly “Mr. Lee, that’s not good at all, you need to go easy on those sorts of foods”.

“is there anything I can do for you?”

“I don’t… feel too good…”

“No. I suppose it doesn’t” He agreed. At least, not right now it didn’t. He simply enjoyed being with her just like this.

He felt his pulse suddenly begin to speed up at her light and affectionate gesture, as he hadn’t quite expected it. He took a moment to look at her, silent and mouth slightly parted. He didn’t agree that it was fine. But he knew that she was aware, and suspected wouldn’t accept any more of his apologies. quirking his lips up slightly, he softly pressed them to hers in a light kiss.

I’m happy we can agree on something, she thought cheekily. In thinking so she couldn’t help but put out a broad smile.

Curious to know why he went quiet, her green eyes locked with his own when he stared. Daiyu remained quiet, wondering if he had something else to say with the way he gaze down at her, although the second his face started inching closer to hers she felt her heart’s beating skyrocket. Skin flourished red beneath those wide eyes, and it took her a minute to take in what was happening. Finally she relaxed, closing her eyes and letting him linger there a few seconds before moving away out of shyness. She was a little speechless, and couldn’t help but bury her embarrassed expression into his shoulder.

Squeezing her gently, he let out a sigh that was also half nervous chuckle. So, this was what they were deciding on huh? “I guess then… we’re both being a little selfish here”. What a pair they were, Shirong thought. He knew they were going to have to deal with great heartache when the time came, but he found in the selfishness he was just happy that he’d be able to spend more time with her. Greed would be proud. Sliding his head over to the side, he slowly nuzzled her cheek.

“I really am sorry though.” he said softly. He just felt he had to reiterate it. “This is far from ideal”.

She couldn’t help the half of a smile appearing on her face at his words, and she sighed. “I suppose so, but.. I don’t really see it as a bad thing anymore. But as long as we’re both happy, I guess it doesn’t matter.” Her voice was soft, it was a change from the sad and heartbreak from just a few moments ago. In nuzzling back, her arms crept around his waist and up his back, bringing herself more against him in doing so. The affection was something she wasn’t used to, but it didn’t deter her from it.

“Enough,” she spoke softly, brushing her lips past his jaw. “Though that may be, it’s fine.”

“No. I suppose it doesn’t” He agreed. At least, not right now it didn’t. He simply enjoyed being with her just like this.

Shirong’s heart plummeted further watching her reaction. All he seemed to be doing was making things worse. What kind of person did that to someone they loved? Instinctively he closed the gap between them, pulling her into an embrace and pressing his lips to her forehead, whispering.

“And if I said that what would make you happy would be my happiness in this case?”

Even in her current position, her cheeks managed to flourish a bright pink, though the rest of her face didn’t change in expression as she looked up into his eyes. It was a little hard to believe what he had just asked, and it put her in a rough position. Daiyu didn’t want to lie, and if she spoke the truth…

“But…” The heiress instinctively chewed on her lip and looked away again. “It’s selfish of me, to want to be with you. Although, that is what would make me happy.”

The smile he gave her held a melancholy to it “I believe I already said that I was being the selfish one here.” No matter how he looked at it, that was how it was. “No one deserves to fall in love with someone who will leave them.” The last thing he wanted to do was subject her to that, but no matter how much he loved her, he knew he couldn’t abandon his father or the Yao clan. He pressed his forehead to hers and with closed eyes asked “Even knowing that, would you still have me?” His voice shook with uncertainty.

The coloring faded as she listened, trying with all her might not to frown and disagree with him. Their views on the selfish part of the situation had been completely different, but even so the last thing she wanted to do was have this moment of discussion break out into an argument. When their foreheads pressed together, her own eyes closed and Daiyu relaxed, letting herself push into him gently. “Of course I would. It was my choice to feel the way I do, and it was my choice to tell you in knowing that at some point you were going to leave me.” As sad as the thought was, she was comfortable with her words, and felt no remorse toward it. “I’ve said it before, I love you. And I’m willing to take whatever comes with feeling so.”

Squeezing her gently, he let out a sigh that was also half nervous chuckle. So, this was what they were deciding on huh? “I guess then… we’re both being a little selfish here”.
